The Challenge
Construct this luxury vacation home while collaborating long-distance with its Texas-based owners. Coordinate setback and waterfront development issues and secure approval from DNR. Complete this project and have homeowners moved in for the Christmas holidays.
The Project
Situated on the shores of Lake Michigan, this Door County vacation home was designed to take full advantage of the lake view. Reminiscent of a classic New England seaside home, this engaging property features hardwood floors, period fixtures, coffered ceilings, painted beadboard, and generous moldings throughout.
Downstairs, the expansive chef’s kitchen is a cornerstone of this bright, airy home, connected to both casual and formal entertaining areas. In the foyer, an innovative handrail runs over the newel post, adding an unsuspected element of surprise and detail to the stairwell. Upstairs, all three guest bedrooms have a view of the water.
