The Project
The 1,000-square foot deck follows the bowed profile of this bay-front home. In an innovative combination, Trex composite decking was inserted into stone-covered foundation walls, creating a strikingly natural yet polished look.

To accommodate DNR requests, a plan for waterside steps in the retaining wall was altered, using a sloping grass ramp instead. DeLeers coordinated the DNR approval process, reaching an acceptable design several weeks after construction was scheduled to begin.

Despite delays, construction and landscaping teams pitched in to finish this project on time, finalizing last details until midnight before the reception. Pathways, temporarily mulched for the celebration, were later completed with hardscaping.
