Rustic Sophistication

The Challenge
Collaborate with Florida-based architects to design and execute this Door County home. Salvage aged stone wall and grill from property. Update original waterside patio room and resurface dock.

The Project
Designed for entertaining and recreation, this Door County home has an olde-world feel. At the front, gambrel-shaped dormers, cut stone skirting and cement board shakes set the stage for an elegant, yet rustic interior.

Inside spaces range from cozy to grand, centered around the two-story great room featuring reclaimed timers and a monumental stone fireplace. Specialty materials such as hickory hewn hardwood floors and rubble plaster walls carry the vintage feel throughout.

A freestanding garage with second-level rec room flanks the outdoor pool. Adjacent, hardwood decking surrounds one of the property’s original trees, creating a dramatic focal point.
